CWN Editor's Note: Pope Francis has named Archbishop Alfred Xuereb, a former papal secretary, to be apostolic nuncio to Morocco.

A native of Malta, the archbishop served as the 2nd private secretary to Pope Benedict XVI from 2007 to 2013. He then became primary secretary to Pope Francis, then soon was named secretary-general of the Council for the Economy. In 2018 he became nuncio to Korea, and was ordained as an archbishop.
