VICTORINES

The Canons Regular of the former abbey of St. Victor in Paris. Founded by William of Champeaux in 1113, the abbey became extinct during the French Revolution. It is best known for the number of scholars, mystics, and poets it produced, including Hugh of St. Victor (1096-1141), Richard of St. Victor (d. 1173) and Walter of St. Victor (d. after 1180).
