UNIVERSITY OF THE FAITHFUL

An expression of the Second Vatican Council, universitas fidelium, declaring that "the whole body [university] of the faithful, whom the holy One has anointed, is incapable of error in belief" (Constitution on the Church, II, 12). This means that the faithful of Christ are joined together by their unerring belief in the mysteries of revelation. They are united by their common allegiance to the faith, which is the truth. Truth unites, error divides.
