ROBBER COUNCIL OF EPHESUS

A synod held at Ephesus in 449 to vindicate Eutyches from St. Flavian's condemnation. After disgraceful scenes of violence, Eutyches was vindicated. Flavian and Theodoret then appealed to Rome. Excommunication followed for certain participants and the Pope declared all the council's actions null.
